Scope and Content

Correspondence with Richard Curle (1883-1968), writer and traveller, relating to discussion of a complaint by Curle that he was not provided with a proof copy of a letter sent in for publication in the Manchester Guardian, and refusal to accept payment for the letter in the form in which it was published.

There is also correspondence relating to Curle's work as a literary reviewer for the Manchester Guardian, with a request by Curle for an increase in employment in this area, which is refused. Also included are internal memoranda discussing the quality of Curle's reviews, following the decision to discontinue the use of his services as a reviewer.
