Correspondence with Herbert Albert Laurens Fisher (1865-1940), historian and politician, relating to a request by Fisher for a notice of the inaugural meeting of the Oxford Preservation Trust to appear in MG, which is accepted.

There is correspondence relating to the publication of a letter to the editor in the Manchester Guardian on [Women's Education in Oxford?] by [Lettice] Fisher, social worker, [wife of Fisher].

There is a request from Scott that Fisher write an article on Sir George Trevelyan as a historian, in light of reports of Trevelyan's ill health. Also included are requests for Fisher to become correspondent correspondent on the University of Oxford for the Manchester Guardian, and for a review of a book by Ramsay Muir, entitled The Government of England, which are declined.

There is correspondence relating to discussion of a request by Scott for recommendations from Fisher for potential candidates for employment at the Manchester Guardian, with reference to their need to be well versed in foreign affairs. Also included is correspondence with E.T. Scott, relating to a request that his son, R.F. Scott, be considered as a candidate for New College, Oxford, to read history. There is also reference to a later change of heart in R.F. Scott, who decides that he would prefer to read English at Cambridge.
