Scope and Content

Copy letters to Mary Edith Durham (1863-1944), traveller and anthropologist, relating to discussion of the form and content of proposed articles by Durham on the position in Algeria for publication in the Manchester Guardian, with reference to the policy and actions of the Turks.

Also included is a copy letter from Scott to Lord Edward Grey, viscount and politician, relating to the provision of a letter by Durham, warning of current dangers [in Albania] in light of the imminent dispatch of Serbian troops, and discussion of Scott's faith in Durham as an accurate witness to events.
