Correspondence with Robert Paine Scripps (1895-1938), news service and newspaper proprietor, relating to the provision of a proposal by Scripps for an editorial alliance between the Manchester Guardian and the Scripps-McRae [League of] newspapers of America, and discussion of the form this might take, which is declined, owing to an existing agreement between the Manchester Guardian and New York World. Also included are an internal memorandum and correspondence relating to a meeting between Scripps and Scott, and of the offer made by Scripps. There is a list of the newspapers and editorial offices owned by Scripps in America. Also included is a telegram of thanks for the expression of sympathy by Scripps [on the death of C.P. Scott].
