Scope and Content

Correspondence with H.H. Johnson, professor, relating to an article by Johnson on the attendance of students at the funeral of Mustapha Kamel Pasha, journalist and Egyptian nationalist, and a request for a copy of the issue of the Manchester Guardian in which it is published, which is granted. Also included is a request that an article on Lord Cromer [Evelyn Baring], diplomatist and proconsul, by Zoheir [uknown?], and an internal memorandum discussing Johnson as a potential source of information on the nationalist movement [in Egypt]. There is a letter from Johnson relating to the prosecution of The Lewa and its director under a revived press prosecution regulation in Egypt, with discussion of the situation at the British consulate in Egypt.
