Correspondence with Henry Guppy, librarian, relating to thanks for support and coverage in the Manchester Guardian of the campaign to re-establish the Library at [the University of Leuven] Louvain, [following its destruction during the First World War] with discussion of Guppy's work for the campaign, the conference of an honorary doctorate on Guppy by the University of Louvain, and his hopes for the total contribution of books from Britain to the cause.
Also included is correspondence relating to the provision of a set of the History [of the War, produced by the Manchester Guardian] to Guppy, and a request by Scott that Guppy write descriptive article on the Vatican Library, which is declined, as Guppy has not visited Rome. There is a reference from Scott for B.G. Ball, former head clerk of the Manchester Guardian counting house, in support of application for work at the John Rylands by Ball.
GDN/A/G59/4 is an article entitled 'Vatican Library; Compilation of General Catalogue' in [The Times, 1927.]
