Also included is correspondence relating to Lloyd's employment as a correspondent for the paper at the [Versailles] peace conference, which is accepted, with discussion of arrangements and salary, and of a meeting between Scott and Lloyd. There is discussion of Lloyd's initial experiences as correspondent, and of the progress of the peace conference, with reference to Persia, Japan and China.
There are letters of recommendation for Lloyd from S[idney] Ball, socialist, and senior tutor of St Johns College Oxford, and William Henry Beveridge, social reformer and economist. There are also letters of recommendation for Lloyd from [John Lawrence] Hammond, historian and journalist, suggesting Lloyd as a successor for Hammond as correspondent for the Manchester Guardian on the [Versailles] peace conference.
