After training at Owens College Ashe was appointed Medical Officer to the Gartside Street Dispensary for Children. He later became senior resident medical officer at Crumpsall Workhouse Infirmary, house physician at MRI and medical officer at Manchester Children's Hospital. He died in Sale on 26 Oct 1948.
