Administrative / Biographical History

D'Ewart was educated at Owens College Manchester, and qualified in medicine in 1902. In 1908 he became assistant school medical officer for Manchester, and was later medical superintendent at Booth Hall Children's Hospital, Manchester. He published articles on infectious diseases, and diseases of children. An active member of the British Medical Association he was chairman of the Manchester Division in 1931-2, and a member of the Association's Finance Committee for twenty years. He was also honorary secretary of the Manchester branch of the Eugenics Education Society.
