Cooper was a member of staff of the University of Manchester department of anatomy from 1923 until 1965, working as demonstrator of anatomy and later as reader in histology. She was a fellow of Manchester Medical Society and member of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and the Pathological Society of Great Britain. Cooper endowed the University with a gold medal and two silver medals, first awarded in 1983.
