Davey studied at Oxford and Manchester Universities and qualified MRCS, LRCP in 1924. He was a former chief bacteriologist at the Public Health Laboratory, Manchester, a venereologist at MRI and a pathologist at St Mary's and Victoria Memorial Jewish Hospital, Manchester. He was the father of Adrian Davey.
