Bennett was born on 29 June 1895 and studied at Cambridge and Manchester. After qualifying, he held house appointments at Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge, MRI and Baguley Sanatorium Cheshire. He was later in general practice in Colwyn Bay, Wales, where he held appointments such as assistant surgeon at Colwyn Bay and West Denbighshire Hospital. He resigned this appointment on the advent of the NHS. Bennett was a member of Manchester Pathological Society and was president of the Colwyn Bay Medical Society. He died on 11 May 1966.
