Administrative / Biographical History

MB ChB Edin 1913.

Addis was House Physician at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary from 1913-1914. He then moved to Manchester where he held positions at St Mary's Hospitals, Manchester. In 1921 Addis was appointed honorary assistant gynaecological surgeon to Salford Royal Hospital being promoted to surgeon in 1924, and from 1922 to 1926 he was also pathologist to St Mary's Hospitals. In 1926, Addis held positions as a consulting gynaecologist to the Eccles and Patricroft Hospital and to Buxton Cottage Hospital. He was later consultant gynaecologist to Park Hospital, Davyhulme, a lecturer in clinical obstetrics at the University of Manchester, and honorary assistant surgeon for women, St Mary's Hospitals Manchester. Addis was a FRSM and a fellow of the North of England Gynaecological Society
