MB ChB Manch 1923
Fildes trained in Manchester and held resident positions at MRI and St Mary's Hospital Manchester. He was later a general practitioner and certified factory surgeon in Buckinghamshire. In 1927 Fildes married Marjorie Ainslie Grant, also a doctor. Marjorie qualified at Manchester in 1923 gaining a DPH in 1924. She was assistant medical officer at St Mary's Hospital and Manchester Children's Hospital before working in general practice with her husband.
