Archibald Clifford Crompton, b 1936.

Crompton was a medical graduate of the University of Manchester (1960). He was a clinical lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Manchester. He later held a similar appointment at Leeds University and was a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at St James Hospital, Leeds.
