After qualifying at Manchester, Evans held junior positions at MRI, Royal Southern Hospital Liverpool, Stockport Infirmary and Ancoats Hospital Manchester. Evans was also demonstrator in anatomy at the University of Manchester from 1956 to 1958. In 1960 Evans was appointed senior orthopaedic registrar at Crumpsall Hospital Manchester and later held the same position at MRI. Evans was later appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the University Hospital of South Manchester and North Cheshire Group Hospitals. Evans was a member of Manchester Medical Society .
