Administrative / Biographical History

LSA 1867; MRCS 1867; LRCP 1869.

Fawsitt was born in Oldham and trained at Manchester and at Guy's Hospital. He worked under his uncle Dr Halkyard, who had taken over his father's practice (Thomas Fawsitt, d 1852). Fawsitt was a general practitioner in Oldham for many years and became a freeman of the borough in 1922. Fawsitt was one of the first surgeons on the staff of Oldham Royal Infirmary in 1872 and in 1905 was elected consulting surgeon. Fawsitt retired in 1920 and died in 1932 aged 86.
