Fort studied at St Thomas's Hospital London. He practised in Oldham where he was honorary surgeon to Oldham Royal Infirmary. Fort was also surgeon for the NSPCC, for the Post Office, for Bolton Police and was also a certifying factory surgeon. Like his son Henry, Fort was closely involved in the territorial RAMC. He probably died in the 1920s.
