Glancy was a house surgeon at MRI and then worked as a general practitioner for many years, retiring probably in the 1980s. He was also a justice of the peace. Glancy's son, Graham David Clancy, b [1953?], was a champion swimmer as a child. He later qualified in medicine at Manchester in 1976. He was house physician at Hope Hospital Salford before being appointed registrar at the University Hospital South Manchester.
