Ōsaka ōezu 大坂大繪圖 [大坂大絵図]

Variant title: Shinsen zōho ōsaka ōezu 新撰増補大坂大繪圖 [新撰増補大坂大絵図]. Author/compiler: Unknown. Imprint: [Edo] , Hayashi Yoshinaga, Genroku 12, 1699. Kanki at lower right-hand corner of map reads: 元禄十二年九月下旬 御繪圖所林氏吉永. Daisen bears the date Genroku 11, 1698. Description: 1 folding map made up of 15 sheets pasted together, 5 vertical x 3 horizontal, in a box. 120.8 × 138.7 cm. Blockprint. Printing frame 119.3 x 138 cm. Single-line borders. Text-matter in kanji for place names, with hiragana-majiri for kango and table of distances. Original dark blue covers (23.3 x 15.5 cm.) with original printed title slip centrally placed. Gedai: Shinsen zōho (tsunogaki) Ōsaka ōezu 新撰増補 (角書) 大坂大繪圖. On left of gedai: 新地入元禄十一寅. No naidai. Edition: One of many editions published by Hayashi Yoshinaga in Jōkyō 貞享 and Genroku 元禄 periods. Contents: Large-scale street plan of Ōsaka, hand-coloured in yellow, green, blue and mauve. Table in panel at bottom right gives distances of places near Ōsaka. Kango in same panel, before kanki, refers to the earlier edition of Jōkyō 3 (1686), revised in the present edition.
