      1 volume Condition: Very good. Negligible worm damage and no stains. Impression: Atozuri, from slightly worn blocks. Seals of ownership: Oblong red seal of Sir Ernest Satow (his smaller seal) 英國薩道藏書, on first page of text.

Scope and Content

Author/compiler: Unknown. Imprint: [Kyōto], Nakano Dōya [i. e. Nakano Kozaemon 中野小左衛門], Kan'ei 9, 1632. Mokki in a double frame on fol. 57b reads: 寛永九年壬申十二月 ／ 吉日中野氏道也梓. Description: 2 kan, 1 satsu, rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 上) ff. 1-34; (maki 下, without naidai at head of text, continuous foliation) ff. 35-57. 24.6 x 17.6 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 20.5 x 16.5 cm. (average). No borders. No fishtail design on hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text with printed furigana. 11 lines to page, 18-20 characters to line. Renewed front cover of yellow silk, without title slip. Manuscript gedai (late-Edo period) written in hentaigana and magana: す見よ志 [も] 能加多利. Title from naidai at head of maki 上. Hashiragaki: Sumiyoshi 住吉 + folio no. in a western style half-leather binding. Edition: The earliest edition printed from blocks and without illustrations. Preceded by 3 movable type editions of Keichō, Genna and Genna / Kan'ei periods respectively, and followed by several seihan editions, with and without illustrations.
