      4 volumes Condition: Excellent. No staining or worm damage. Impression: Sharp and clear. Seals of ownership: Oblong red seal, Daikokusan zōsho 大黒山藏書 on first page of each satsu. Manuscript notes: Shikigo in white gofun on front cover of each satsu reads: 四巻内 / 小里 / 來善房. Note in black ink on mikaeshi of each satsu reads: 寶幢寺什物 (in calligraphy datable to early Edo period), followed by round black stamp, Daikoku 大黒.

Variant title: Dai hokkuchō 大發句帳 [大発句帳 ]. Variant title: Renga dai hokkuchō 連歌大發句帳 [連歌大発句帳]. Author/compiler: Unknown. Imprint: N.p., n.d. [Kan'ei period, c. 1624-40] . No colophon. Description: 4 kan, 4 satsu, in a modern chitsu case. Folios unnumbered. 27.2 x 19.1 cm. Fukurotoji. Movable type. Printing frame 21.5 x 17 cm. No borders. No printed hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text without furigana. 12 lines to page, 18 characters to line (without headings). Original dark blue covers embossed with a floral and geometric design. Original printed title slips at left on each satsu. Gedai: Hokkuchō shun (ka, shū, tō) 發句帳 春 (夏, 秋, 冬). Edition: Kokatsujiban no kenkyū distinguishes two main types of movable type edition of this work, of which Type 1 (第一種本) is subdivided into four sub-groups with variant settings of the same font of type. The present copy clearly belongs to the first sub-group ('i' イ) of Type 1. Following the numerous movable type editions and typographical variants, all published in Kan'ei period (and all undated), the first blockprinted edition was issued in Kanbun 6 (1666) by Nagao Heibē in 10 satsu. Contents: A selection of 7,414 hokku / renga poems by twenty poets, including Sōgi, 宗祇, Jōha 紹巴, Shōhaku 肖柏, Sōseki 宗碩, etc., of the mid-Muromachi to early-Edo periods. Compiled c. 1614 or earlier. Classified by subject under the four seasons, one to each satsu. List of contents in 2 folios at head of each satsu.
