      1 volume Condition: Good, apart from slight worm damage in maki 2 and 10, and ink stains on ff. 7-8 of maki 1. Impression: Sharp and clear, with only slight signs of block wear. Seals of ownership: Oblong red seal, Ryokuseidō toshoshō 綠靜堂圖書章, seal of Sugihara Shinsai 杉原心齋, and large red seal, Sōsei zōsho 倉姓藏書, on first page of satsu 1. Manuscript notes: Copious notes (late-Edo period) in black, red, green and blue ink on mikaeshi, and in upper margin of preface, fol. 1a. Large kutōten in blue and shubiki in red, in preface and first few folios of maki 1. Manuscript okurigana and kaeriten added throughout.

Description: 10 kan, formerly in 2 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (1) ff. 2 (序), 9; (2) ff. 10; (3) ff. 13; (4) ff. 12; (5) ff. 12; (6) ff. 14; (7) ff. 17; (8) ff. 12; (9) ff. 12; (10) ff. 8. 27.8 x 19.3 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 21-21.9 x 16.5 cm. Double-line borders all round. Fishtail design on hanshin. Vertical lines between columns. Kanbun text without printed kunten. 7 lines to page (of large ji-本文), 14 lines to page (small ji-註釈), 17 characters to line. Original vermilion front cover, with embossed mica design, of satsu 1 only. No title slip. Manuscript gedai (late-Edo period) : 慶長板 / 論語. Hashiragaki: Rongo 論語 + maki no. + folio no. Edition: Undated blockprint of Keichō period, printed from newly cut blocks modelled on an early-Keichō movable type edition. Contents: Commentary on the text of the Confucian Analects, compiled by He Yan and other scholars in the Wei period. Superseded in the Song by the commentary of Zhu Xi 朱熹.
