      1 volume Condition: Very good, apart from a few water stains in maki 1 and 2. Impression: Type shows distinct signs of wear in places. Seals of ownership: Small oblong red seal, Mori-shi kaiman sappu no ki 森氏開萬册府之記, on first page of each former satsu. (Seal of Mori Tatsuyuki 森立之). Manuscript notes: Some okurigana and kaeriten added (Kan'ei period or earlier) on first three folios of maki 1 only.

Author/compiler: Cheng Yu 程愈, writer of commentary and author of preface. Imprint: N.p., n.d. [Genna period, 1615-24]. Description: 6 kan, formerly in 5 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (1) ff. 15 (序 + 総論 + 凡例 + 篇目 + 書題 + 題辞), 15; (2) ff. 56; (3) ff. 23; (4) ff. 32; (5) ff. 71; (6) ff. 62. 28.5 x 20.5 cm. Fukurotoji. Movable type. Printing frame 21 x 17.7 cm. Double-line borders all round. Vertical rules between columns. 'Flower petal' fishtail design on hanshin. Kanbun text without printed kunten. 10 lines to page, 18 characters to line. Original vermilion front cover of satsu 1 only, faintly embossed with a geometric design. Manuscript gedai in an early-Edo hand: 小學集説序一. Hashiragaki (of honmon 本文) : Shōgaku shūsetsu 小學集説 + maki no. + folio no. In a modern western style cloth binding. Edition: A movable type edition. Contents: Confucian precepts for the guidance of young people, selected from the writings of sages, past and present. Text of the Xiaoxue 小學, edited by Zhu Xi, with commentary by Cheng Yu 程愈.
