Description: 3 kan, 3 jō 帖. 25 x 11.2 cm. (each half-fold). Orihon. Blockprint. Printing frame (height) 24.2-24.6 cm. Single-line border. Vertical rules between columns of text. Kanbun text, without reading marks. 5 lines to half-fold, 17 characters to line (large characters), 23 to line (small characters). Original blue front cover of maki 上; other covers darker blue, renewed at an early date. In a modern chitsu case. No title slips, no gedai. Title from naidai. Edition: Sen'yūji-ban. Although not stated in the book, this is clearly a product of the Sen'yuji 泉涌寺 monastery (also read Sennyūji) at Higashiyama, Kyōto, where many ritsu (vinaya) works were printed and published. The earliest dated edition is the Shibunritsu gyōjishō 四分律行事鈔 of Kenchō 4, 1252. Closely resembling a Chinese edition of the Song period, the present edition was printed from new blocks modelled directly on a Song edition, and incorporating the name of the original Chinese block-cutter 錢塘洪先刀 on the last page of maki 上. Contents: Text of the Shibunritsu biku kaihon 四分律比丘戒本, translated into Chinese by Buddhayaśas (408-13), with a brief commentary expounded in 630 by Daoxuan. The work prescribes rules of discipline and moral conduct for monks.

- Physical Description3 volumes Condition: Fair to good. Worm damage partially repaired. Impression: For the most part sharp and clear, suggesting an early impression. Only a small part of the work has been printed from the original blocks, however, the rest being supplemented by hokoku, probably dating from early Muromachi period. Seals of ownership: Two square red seals on first page of each vol.: Tetsujō no in 徹定之印 and Kokyōdō shujin 古經堂主人, both seals used by Ugai Tetsujō 鵜飼徹定, abbot of the Chion'in. Also one oval red seal on last page of maki 下: Kachōzan 華頂山, seal of the Chion'in 知恩院.
