Kanki on fo1. 22b of maki 7 reads: 元禄十二年 / 己卯仲春穀旦 / 吉村吉左衛門 / 風月庄左衛門. Description: 7 kan, formerly in 2 satsu, rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 1) ff. 2 (preface), 1 (hanrei), 44; (2) ff. 29; (3) ff. 22; (4) ff. 14; (5) ff. 38; (6) ff. 48; (7) ff. 22. 22.2 x 15.7 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 17.7 x 13.9 cm. Single-line borders, with single fishtail design on hanshin. Kanji and katakana-majiri text, with printed furigana. 9 lines to page (large characters), 18 lines (small characters), 17 characters to line (small characters). Renewed mid-blue front cover of first satsu, with embossed diamond pattern. Renewed title slip with manuscript gedai: 熟語便覧. Preface title: Jukuji benran 熟字便覧. Title from naidai at head of maki 1. Hashiragaki: Jukuji benran 熟字便覧 + maki no. + folio no. Edition: The first and only known edition. Contents: A dictionary of compounds of two or more kanji, with brief definitions in katakana-majiri, arranged in iroha order. The compiler's name, Baiin Rōfu 梅隱老夫 appears in the preface, which is dated Genroku 11 (1698).
