Printing frame 22.6 x 17.3 cm. Double-line borders all round. Vertical rules between columns. 'Flower petal' fishtail design on hanshin. Kanbun text without printed kunten. 8 lines to page (large characters), 16 lines (small characters), 17 characters to line. Original dark brown front cover of satsu 1 only, without title slip or gedai. Title from naidai. Hashiragaki: Mōshi 毛詩 + maki no. + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding. Edition: Kokatsujiban no kenkyū records three principal movable type editions of this work published in Keichō period, the first two with printed commentary. Type 2 comprises two variant editions, both believed to be early examples of non-Buddhist printing carried out at a Buddhist monastery, the Getsuzōbō 月藏坊 on Mount Hiei. The present copy corresponds to the first of these two variants and may therefore be classified as an Eizan-ban 叡山版. For this edition the same font of type was used as for a Getsuzōbō edition of Kachū myōhō renge-kyō 科註妙法蓮華經 dated Keichō 16, 1611. Contents: The Mao Heng 毛亨 version of the Classic of Poetry (Shijing 詩經) with commentary by the Han scholar Zheng Xuan 鄭玄.

- Physical Description1 volume Condition: Good on the whole. Minor worm damage in maki 1 and 4, brown water-stains in places, and some spotting towards end of maki 20. Impression: Sharp and clear, from little-worn type. Seals of ownership: None. Manuscript notes: List of contents written in red on front cover, mid-Edo period. Textual notes in upper margins, some erased with white paint. Kunten in black and kutōten in red throughout text, probably also written in mid-Edo period. Brief shikigo recording study and exegesis of the text by Kiyohara Nobukata 清原宣賢, at the end of almost every maki. These shikigo, bearing dates between Eishō 18 永正十八年 (1521) and Tenbun 4 天文四年 (1535), are not in the hand of Kiyohara Nobukata (1475-1550) himself, but were evidently copied into this book at a later date from a manuscript copy. From maki 7 onwards the name copied is Kansuiken 環翠軒, a gō used by Nobukata.
