      6 volumes Condition: Fair. No worm damage, but many folios soiled and water-stained. Impression: A fairly sharp impression, but with some evidence of block wear. llustrations: A total of 31 sumizuri illustrations, 4 double-page and 24 single-page, distributed as follows: (maki 1) 1 double, 7 single; (2 上) 1 double, 4 single; (2 下) 1 double, 3 single; (3) 1 double, 5 single; (4-5) 5 single; (6) 0. All hand-coloured and of good quality. In addition, the work contains a number of sumizuri solar and lunar diagrams, some with Buddhist figures, and human sketches. Seals of ownership: Oval red seal, 白良文庫, on first page of maki 1. Small square red seal, Iwamoto-shi chinzō 岩本氏珍藏, on last page of maki 6. Diamond-shaped blue-black seal, 政, on last page of maki 1-6.

Scope and Content

Variant title: Isshin roku amida sankei kudoku kagami 一心六阿彌陁參詣功德鑑 [一心六阿弥陀参詣功徳鑑]. Variant title: Isshin roku amida nyonin godō kagami 一心六阿彌陁女人悟道鑑 [ 一心六阿弥陀女人悟道鑑]. Author/compiler: Unknown. Imprint: [Edo] , Shōkai 松會 [=Shōkai (or Matsue) Sanshirō 松會三四郎] , n.d. [Enpō-Genroku period, c. 1680-1700 ?] . Kanki on fol. 6b of maki 6 reads: 初秋吉日 松會開板. Description: 6 kan, 6 satsu, in a chitsu case. (1) ff. 23; (2 上) ff. 30; (2 下) ff. 20; (3) ff. 14; (4-5-in 1 satsu) ff. 6, 16; (6) ff. 6. 27.2 x 18.7 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 23.1 x 17.2 cm. (average). Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin. Hiragana-majiri text with printed furigana. 15 lines to page, variable no. of characters to line. Original dark blue covers. Original title slips on left with printed gedai: Shinpan 新板 (tsunogaki 角書) Roku amida denki 六阿弥陁傳記. Title from gedai. Mokurokudai at head of maki 1: Isshin roku amida nyonin godō kagami 一心六阿弥陁女人悟道鑑; mokurokudai at head of maki 2-5: Isshin roku amida sankei kudoku kagami 一心六阿弥陁参詣功德鑑. Naidai at head of text varies with each maki and is sometimes lacking. Hashiragaki: 1 (2, etc.) ban 一 (二, 等) 番 + folio no. Edition: This may belong to the undated first edition assigned by Kokusho sōmokuroku 国書総目録 to Meireki 明暦 period. The only dated edition recorded is that of Enpō 7 延宝七年 (1679), published by Shōkai 松會. It is perhaps more likely that the present copy was published (also by Shōkai) at some date after Enpō 7 (1679). Contents: A collection of anecdotes and popular stories on the spiritual efficacy of pilgrimage to the six shrines of Amida in Edo.
