Scope and Content

This series of letters from the Comte de Castel Melior to Lord Halifax concerns diplomacy between the Queen in Portugal and England. The count writes to Lord Halifax to thank him for the favour he has done him by sharing his enlightened mind and knowledge and refers to news from England he has heard about Lord Halifax's family. He provides information in his letters on how the Queen fairs in Portugal and her lack of needing his advice. [He is presumably writing about Catherine of Braganza who returned to Portugal after the death of King Charles].
