The chaplain of Henri de Massue, 2nd Marquis de Ruvigny, Earl of Galway, writes four days after the Earl's hand was blown off in the Seige of Badajos to provide the Earl's cousin Lady Russell with an account of the operation the Earl underwent and his recovery after it as well as his religious loyalty and general good character during his whole time with the army in this camp.
