Scope and Content

In these letters Lord Carteret writes to the 3rd Duke concerning the 3rd Duke's speech for the Houses of Parliment (as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland) and his recommendation of a peerage for the Lord Chancellor. He also writes concerning the arrival of Princess Louisa at Rotterdam and the nuptials for the King's birthday.

His second letter to the 3rd Duke concerns a note he received from Mr Sohlenthal, Ambassador of the King of Denmark about two Danish ships embargoed at Dublin due to war being declared between France and England. He writes that the King wishes for an inquiry to be made.

The third letter in this group is a copy letter to Lord Carteret concerning David Barbutt who is suspected of enlisting men for the Prussian or French service.
