To the 3rd Duke of Devonshire he writes concerning: his approval of the King's choice of the Duke as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland and his wish to contribute to the ease of the Duke's administration; the vacancy of the office of Primate of Ireland and his and the current Primate's recommendations of suitable candidates; discussion of Rogerson and Reynold and Bowe's suitability for the post of Primate; his congratulations on the marriage of Lady Caroline to Lord Ponsonby (CS1/205/4).
