Scope and Content

This series of papers comprises individual bills from furniture suppliers, makers and suppliers for furniture and accessories that were acquired by Lady Burlington over a twenty-period and were likely inherited by the 4th Duke of Devonshire and his family on the death of Lady Burlington, if not before. The last item in this series is an inventory of furniture that was brought to Devonshire House that belonged to the late George II (CS1/247/7).
