The author writes of her experience with Mr John Chute when she refused to accept him as her guardian should Mr Hechstetter resign. She describes his violent rage and his blaming Miss Capper for influencing Miss Nicoll's decision and trying to persuade her Mr Capper and Horace Walpole were in cahoots to "sell" Mis Nicoll off to a younger Walpole.
