Scope and Content

In these letters the author writes in his capacity as Primate of Ireland about the various vacancies of deaneries and bishoprics and who is entitled to appoint the posts with particular mention of the King's right to appoint bishops. He provides his advice to the 3rd Duke of Devonshire, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland on who he thinks should most appropriately fill certain posts. He also recommends a chaplain for the 3rd Duke via a letter to his secretary Edward Walpole.

He also writes concerning: the Irish soldiers in returning regiments and other military affairs; the Bishop of "Derry"; pensions for various lords, resignations and preferments.
