The author writes to Lord Burlington that he has a constant expectation of being dimissed at the Court of the Exchequer and finds it trying his patience. He also writes that his painting is keeping him busy enough that most men would not mind the delay in dismissal. He mentions Tom Carter being chosen for the town of Trim and the vacancy at Lismore where Lord Burlington is absolute. He adds that he has friends who wish to see him in parliament and he believes Lord Monmouth and Mr Bruce would announce their interest for him. He asserts the advantage the seat would give him as a painter. He lets Lord Burlington know he will hear an answer via [Alexander] Pope. Written from Mary's Abbey, Dublin. Signed 'Charles Jervas'.
