This letter is endorsed "Lady Coventry" and signed - Coventry (initial undecipherable). The identity of the writer is therefore uncertain. The tone of the letter, which is distinctly aggressive, suggests Anne Coventry (née Master), Countess of Coventry (1690 - 1788).

Anne Coventry (née Master), Countess of Coventry (1690 - 1788). Anne Master was the daughter of Streynsham Master of Codnor Castle in Derbyshire. In 1719 her new husband died. He was Gilbert Coventry, 4th Earl of Coventry
