John Russell (Lady Russell's brother-in-law) informs Lady Russell that the fleet is ready to leave again and "make as great a conquest by sea as the King of France hath done by land". He writes about the conditions the Dutch may offer - conditions which cannot be refused: "for customary towns we shall have in abundance and so many Dutch women to every governor since the females of our own country will not be persuaded". He apologises that he does not write of how things are in town which are much more interesting to a Lady. Written from London.
