Scope and Content

In these two letters Lord Rothes writes concerning his conversation with His Royal Highness about the Irish Army and presenting HRH with Lord Hartington's recommendations for the Army as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He mentions: changes in commissions for Lord Moore, Major Gisborne, Captain Norman and Captain Wynn; the disadvantage created by the augmented numbers in the foot regiments of Ireland; encampments; a trial made on the piece of cannon sent from Ireland as commanded by Lord Hartington and; a supply of guns required made of quality metal.
