the country's alarm at the invasion of the Pretender's son in Scotland; the 3rd Duke of Devonshire's travelling to London making it impossible for Abdy to wait on him at Chatsworth; a meeting of gentlemen held by the 3rd Duke at Derby about an advance of a sum of money for each person to use in the enlisting of a sufficient number of men; another meeting to be held for subscriptions at Chesterfield; his request to Lady Burlington if she wishes to send subscription money to his Grace; his illness which has kept him from Londesbury; his willingness to carry out any commands for the Burlingtons once the bassmoot court is over (CS1/210/5);
corrections to the errors he made in the draft accounts of rents he sent previously, which he claims were made because of the hurry he was in to try and organise his son's marriage settlement; his compliments to Madam Violette [Eva Marie Veigel].
