These papers concern a bond of annuity between the 3rd Duke of Devonshire and Colonel Francis Charteris, then inherited by his grandson, also Francis Charteris. The papers include:
- a letter from George Campbell [solicitor], concerning the outstanding amount owed by the 3rd Duke, requested by the executors of the late Colonel Charteris, 21 January 1750;
- a receipt for £700 received from the 3rd Duke by Francis Charteris, May 1747;
- a case report concerning the bond of annuity inherited by Colonel Charteris' grandson and the 3rd Duke's wish to pay it off, 1743.
