Scope and Content

In these letters from the third child of King George II and Queen Caroline, Amelia, she writes to Lady Burlington concerning: her decision not to pass on Lady Burlington's message about Lord Burlington to the King and Queen when it would mar the esteem they have for Lord Burlington and likely reveal something he would quickly have repented for anyway (CS1/212/0);

news from the Queen that Mr Mostyn has been made a captain in the Brigadier General Handasyd's regiment of foot; her enquiry after Lady Burlington's health and rumours of her having gout which Princess Amelia hopes has been cured by the Bath waters; how Lady Burlington spends her time at Bath whether on cards or riding out which the Princess thinks better for her health (CS1/212/1);

the Queen's belief that Lady Burlington should stay at the waters for as long as is necessary for her health to recover; the Queen's pleasure that Lady Burlington is pleased with Mr Mostyn's promotion and Princess Amelia's opinion that anyone who once laughed at him will be mortified and that the he has lost nothing by being protected by Lady Burlington (CS1/212/2).
