Scope and Content

This letter addresses "Will" telling him he is best to go to Paris if he must go to France or he wastes time going to France: "all who wish best to you here conclude time will be cast away you bestow in France, and of Paris". Christian acknowledges William's wish to improve himself but urges him to use his discretion. She mentions Hobbes, writing that she trusts his counsel. She ends the letter saying she is better since going to town however she is still forbidden to write and read and cannot wait for him to return, though not before he is want to do so. Dated April 1. Included with the letter is a transcript of it written in the hand of the 6th Duke of Devonshire.
