Scope and Content

These papers concern the dispute between Mr Rochfort and Mr Nugent about Rochfort apprehending a man named Molay as a poacher, who Mr Nugent claimed was his servant and therefore not to be considered a poacher, but a gentleman's servant under the Game Act and the disagreement that unfolded from this event. The papers include:

- an undated abstract of the case;

- a letter detailing the Lord Justices' response to the 3rd Duke's letter of reference upon Nugent and Maguire, 23 May 1737;

- Thomas Nugent's affidavit, 25 May 1737.
