Scope and Content

In these two letters to Lord Burlington and the Duke of Devonshire, William Pulteney thanks Lord Burlington for letting him and his party retire to Londesborough after the elections at Hedon. He writes that with two balls and a great deal of gallantry he has gained the support of all the hearts of the ladies who have influence in the Corporation.

He writes to the Duke of Devonshire concerning Mr Gasgoigne's desire for Pulteney (now Lord Bath) to request him to order the Report of the surveyor general relating to the ground near Dublin Castle to be laid before the Duke of Devonshire in order that Mr Gasgoigne can let it on the terms mentioned in the report.
