Scope and Content

In these letters Mr Potter acts as messenger between the Lord Justices and the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (3rd Duke). He writes to the 3rd Duke concerning Irish political affairs and affairs relating to the British Government. Topics also include: the case of Lord Santry; the Speaker's scheme for satisfying the Lamberts and Allens; account of the produce of the hereditary revenue; the movements of military regiments; commissions upon exchanges; commissions drawn up; deaths; French war; petitions; recommendations for vacant posts; the case of Edgworth and Edgworth; paper books on His Majesty's stores and habiliments of war in Ireland; peerages granted; the issue of Mr Dawson's application to be a judge and then prime sargeant; shortage of money in Ireland; the scarcity of coal due to coal ships being delayed; ships of corn from America reducing the price of it; Mr Jebb and the living of Killebban and the bishopric of Ferns.
