The author writes concerning the suprising death of Emanuel Scrope Howe, 2nd Viscount Howe, Governor of Barbados and encloses a letter from Abel Alleyne to [Henry] Peers in which he describes the state of grief of some of those on the island and lamenting Peers' emigration from Barbados. Bradford asks the 3rd Duke to appeal to the King for a government salary for Lady Howe and her family.
