Probably related to Hector Leak, Walter Leak studied medicine at Cambridge and St George's Hospital. He was house surgeon at MRI before serving in the RAMC and as medical officer to the Mission Hospital, Kuwait. Leak returned to Winsford, Cheshire, where he settled in general practice. He was also honorary surgeon to Albert Infirmary, Winsford, public vaccinator and public assistant medical officer, and police surgeon.
