Larmuth was a relative of James Hamilton Larmuth and Leopold Larmuth , practised in Salford from the 1840s, and during the 1850s was made surgeon to Salford Royal Hospital. He was also medical officer for Salford Union. (Further information on Larmuth in MMC/2/LarmuthL/1/14).
