MB ChB St Andrews 1921, DPH 1923.

Lindsey was born as Mabel Hodgson in Dunfermline on 30 August 1896 and was educated at Dunfermline High School and St Andrews University. After qualifying, Lindsey held resident appointments at Dundee Infirmary and Dundee Infant Hospital. In 1924 she was appointed maternity child welfare medical officer to Manchester Corporation. In 1930, when she married Gilbert Lindsay, she went part time. During the War, Lindsey went to Dunfermline as assistant medical officer of health, but in 1945 returned to her previous position in Manchester until her retirement in 1960. Lindsey was an active member of MMS, she began attending meetings in 1924, and was still doing so in 1973. She was actively involved in the Medical Women's Federation since her time as a student, and was president of the Manchester and District Branch. She was also honorary secretary of the Bramhall Auxiliary of the Cripples Help Society and was awarded honorary life membership of the Society in 1972. Lindsey died suddenly on 1 March 1983.
